Greetings: I'm Steven (Steve) Harris and it's great to be up here in the NW, I'm now hanging my hat in Coeur d'Alene, ID. I'm an acoustic guitar playing, singer/songwriter (honest guy with a sense of humor)...and somehow can't quit find any reason to cut my hair. I used to perform professionally in the SF Bay Area in the mid 70s...got tired of that scene, and have been playing with casual musicians/bands/songwriters off and on since in places like Texas, and then in Western WA. I've played styles such as folk, folk rock, country, Celtic, bluegrass...but now I'm experimenting with all kinds of styles from simple fingerpickin' stuff, to tropical/island influences, to alt folk/country, some jazz, and getting out there in alternate guitar tuning dimension to parts unknown. I've released two CDs via Big Quack Records (small studio on Camano Island, WA)...the latest, "Here On Island Time" (2007) was done with 'Steve Harris & Friends' - a fun group of talented musicians...we had a great monthly gig on the 'Island' where we'd get wonderful turnout to hear my original tunes. Fun stuff. (I'll post some pics once I get around to it)

Now - I'm starting to do a few solo gigs around CdA as I find time...still focusing on only original music. My goal is to continue with that and hopefully form a trio (looking for mandolin/fiddle/lead guitar, and maybe bass)...but keep it acoustic, offering up whatever originals any of us write that are fun to play. I love collaborating with other songwriters/original musicians - so I'm open to that. (Nothin' like sitting around, swapping songs, while sharing a refreshing beverage or two) I've been performing at Daanen's Deli in Hayden (11/7 and 12/26)...hope to be back there soon. (Looks like I'll be at Daanen's again on 3/20, from 5-8pm) I'll post a schedule once I get to that point. I'm also looking for other venues - as I enjoy sharing my tunes with others out in the community.

This looks like a great web community - looking forward to musically connecting with any of you - Steve

Hi Steven, there's a girl, or group of them I guess, who are signing on as members to ALL the Ning sites and posting their come-ons. I'm considering blocking the automatic membership feature and monitoring (and manually approving) new members to keep the spammers out. I hate them even more than you. Problem is, I can't watch this site 24/7, and I'm not sure that the spammers won't trick me into thinking they're legit when they sign up. It's a tough problem, I'll do what I can to keep it in check. Thanks for bringing it up, Jim C

My music is evolving and I'm collaborating with bassist/guitarist/songwriter Michael Slupczynski and creating a band called "NW Skyes" (pronounced 'Northwest Skies') As a duo, we create an amazing energy to my original songs...and depending on venues will be collaborating with or without a percussionist/drummer. As of July 2009, you will be seeing us advertised as 'NW Skyes'...original acoustic music - with an edge. Both Michael and I are very excited about this direction...come give us a listen and say hi.
