In a perfect world we would give all our music away for free and survive on touring revenue, merchandising and licensing income. Alas this is not always possible. In order to eat we have to sell a few CD’s. The good news is that much of our catalog has been released under this creative commons license
http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0 We have made many Antiqcool songs free to download for a reason, we want you to sprea…

The music business is feeling the effects of the economic woes of the nation, including local music stores. I suggest that we support local music stores. It's true that the best prices on instruments and accessories are available from the big catalog companies like Musician's Friend and Guitar Center. But how is the service of those chains? You be the judge of their service after you get an unplayable instrument dropped on your door by FedEx or UPS.
The economic trends all point to a dramatic d…

Hi all,
I received emails regarding my blog but am unable to open them to respond to. When I click on them it says "sorry, unable to find..."
Then I looked thru all the members and did not find them there.
There names are Nicolasa Sims and Lavenia Collier.
Any help on solving this problem and/or reaching them would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Gary Milici

Well, I can’t believe it…spring has finally arrived. The sun even came out today to make a rare pre-July appearance in Oregon. Okay so maybe it’s not that rare, but sometimes it seems like it and the hint of blue sky is always nice to see after a surprisingly cold wet winter.
Winter was great though. Along with a record snowfall, were the sets we played at the star-studded RiverCity Bluegrass festival, the show at the Emerald Valley Opry (for one of the best audiences west of the Mississippi),…

I had a great time in Nashville meeting so many gifted and wonderful people - both artists and industry professionals. The different workshops were great in terms of understanding different aspects of the business side of the music industry and just how important Independent Artists are - the Industry is imploding right now and there just couldn't be a better time to be independent! Though I didn't win any awards this time around, I was so blessed to be considered among very qualified companions…

I am attending the CIA (Christian Independent Alliance) Summit at the end March 25-28 in Nashville – This is the premier conference for Christian Independent Artists that happens once a year. I am SO excited to announce that I have been nominated for FEMALE ARTIST OF THE YEAR and ALBUM OF THE YEAR! This is such an amazing honor! I am showcasing there as well, so pray that God’s best would shine through me. Read the press release and see the nominations at www.ciasummit.com.

I have two bluegrass songs (up tempo) that need help with lyrics, and demos that I can email or send.
My past experience includes playing music professionally for 8 years, although not currently, and two songwriting awards.
I live in Seattle.
I look forward to hearing from you.

We are just wondering how all you fine folk are doing up there in the snowy north country. I pull up all the TV stations and look to see what is happening. Lots of friends have kept us informed to your long winter. We are having a little cool spell right now. Our north country, Flagstaff area, are getting record snow falls. They had over 21 inches the other day. Sedona has snow on the hills. We're thinking of driving up to see the beautiful area.
We miss all our friends up there but sure don't m…

I'm sorry to report that there will be no festival or fiddle contest this year. We couldn't find a chairperson to run it.

Today, I added a tab to one of my favorite (and challenging) oldtime fiddle tunes, The Harvest Home Hornpipe. I have two tabs, one for guitar, one for mandolin. If you read sheet music (a worthwhile skill to develop if you don't), you can learn this tune on any instrument. Watch the trills and Irish ornamentation, and try to get all the triplets smooth. This is an intermediate-advanced tune. Want a tab? I do requests!

I've mostly finished updating the Pend Oreille Valley Bluegrass Website. The schedule is up, the pages about the bands are done, and the ticket and camping info is posted. Have a look!

I've added a guitar tab to Smith's Reel today. It's one of my favorite flatpicking fiddle tunes. I've been practing it at about 190 beats per minute, and I'm trying to get it up to speed at about 210 bpm. Have a look at it, and give it a try...it's a neat tune!
